Nathanael beats Autism and becomes a Leader and Champion!
Posted: March 14, 2018
Nathanael may appear to be a normal 14 year-old teenage boy; however, he was diagnosed with Autism when he was 6 yrs old. Nathanael struggled with discipline, self-control and respect. We made the choice to enroll him in Taekwondo in August of 2016.
As his parents, at first we were very concerned about enrolling Nathanael in Taekwondo because we were afraid he might use his training for the wrong reasons. However, it has been quite the opposite. Taekwondo has challenged Nathanael’s memory when learning his forms and he has gained an incredible amount of discipline, self-control, and respect towards others.
Although sparring has been a challenge for Nathanael with his disability, he perseveres through it and has grown immensely. Master Dillow and Mr. Bittinger has been a great influence in Nathanael’s training. They are very patient with Nathanael and encourage him to do the best that he can. We are thankful to have them on our team in helping Nathanael learn all of these valuable qualities to help him succeed in life.
